Why can't I find the course I'm looking for?
Following feedback from many of our users, we have made some changes to make it easier to find all the content that Grok offers to teachers and students. As we roll out these changes, we expect there to be some initial confusion for long time users but with time we hope teachers will find it much easier. If you're having trouble finding a course there could be a few reasons:
- Courses are no longer listed on the Resources page;
- Some courses have been tentatively marked as "Retiring";
- Course names have been updated to be consistent, and;
- Old versions of competitions are no longer available.
For more information on these changes please see below.
Courses are listed in a single place
Previously some but not all of our courses were listed in the launchpad as well as the Resources page. To avoid confusion we have consolidated all of our courses and competitions onto the Courses page, and removed them from the resources page. The Resources page now exclusively lists unplugged and other resources that supplement the learning done through the courses on our learning interface.
Retiring and Retired Courses
In a recent review of our content we have flagged some of our courses as Retiring
. By default these courses will no longer appear in the course search results on the launchpad. You can however select the "Retiring" filter in the launchpad to include those courses in the search results.
We have an article about some of the reasons we retire courses, along with examples of popular courses that have been set to retiring, such as Introduction to Programming - Python.
Course name changes
In April 2024, we updated the names of many courses in our catalogue. We felt that many of them had names that were either outdated, ambiguous, or not entirely reflective of their content. In most cases, our courses now follow the standard naming of "Course Name - Language". Below are some courses that highlight the main reasons for these name changes.
Old Name | New Name |
Python for Beginners | Beginners Python |
DT Challenge Python – Turtle | Beginners Turtle - Python |
Monster Maker! (Blockly) | Monster Maker - Blockly |
BBC micro:bit Crash Course | Beginners micro:bit - Python |
V2 Information Privacy and Security - Schools Cyber Security Challenge | Information Privacy and Security - Secondary |
HoC: Frozen Fractals | Frozen Fractals - Python |
In most instances, searching for a word that was in the old title will still show the course. If you're still having trouble finding a course, feel free to reach out to us over at support@groklearning.com.
Competitions and Challenges
When a competition or challenge finishes, it stops being publicly accessible. This means that unless you enrolled into the course while the competition is open, you will not be able to access it after the competition deadline has passed. Teachers will also be unable to assign a competition after it has closed.
All competitions you have previously enrolled in will always be available for you to access, so we encourage you to enrol in competitions while they're ongoing so that you can access them later.
