Do I need to buy subscriptions for my students?

Students will need a Grok subscription to access any of our paid content, including competitions. (You can see our free or funded content here.)

You can purchase subscriptions for as many or as few students as you like! Our system will automatically discount your invoice in accordance with our bulk discounts. If your school has a site licence, you won't need to buy subscriptions for those students - you'll see a warning message if you try to do this.

What is a Draft Invoice?

When you go to 'Buy Subscriptions', our system creates a Draft Invoice for you. You can add and remove students from the Draft Invoice until you are happy that all the details are correct. The Draft Invoice will automatically save - so you can go away and come back anytime!

The Draft Invoice shows you each student that you have selected to buy a subscription for. At the top of the invoice it shows a summary of the number of subscriptions, and the total cost for this invoice. As you add and remove students, the invoice cost will automatically re-calculate.

When you click 'Confirm Invoice' the real invoice will be generated for payment.

How do I select specific students to buy subscriptions?

To make it easy, there are lots of different ways to select students to buy subscriptions!

You can type in any student name from your school to add them to the Draft Invoice. Or, you can select several students at a time:

  • By grade: choose a grade (eg. Grade 7) to purchase subscriptions for all students in this grade
  • By group: choose a group (eg. Class 7H) to purchase subscriptions for all students in this group
  • From your last registration: if you recently registered some students, you can select 'from last upload' to purchase subscriptions for the students that you just registered.
  • From the dashboard: if you just want to select specific students, you can do this from your dashboard.
    • On your dashboard, click the checkbox next to the students you want to buy subscriptions for.
    • Once you have selected all the students you want to buy subscriptions for, click the 'Buy Subscriptions' button.
    • Your Draft Invoice will be populated with the students that you have selected.

Selecting students from any of these methods will add the students to the Draft Invoice. You can still check these details and add or remove rows before finalising your invoice!

I have a purchase order number from my school

Many schools need a purchase order number on the invoice. If you already have a purchase order number, you can add it to your draft invoice any time before confirming.

I need to purchase in a different currency

Our subscription page will have a default currency for you. If you need to purchase in a different currency, email us (support@groklearning.com) and we can help you out.

I'm seeing errors when I try to buy subscriptions

Errors may appear when you try to buy subscriptions and the information doesn't match our requirements. Examples of things that might results in errors are: entering an invalid discount code.

❗All errors need to be corrected before you can finalise your invoice.

What's the difference between errors and warnings?

Warnings are different from errors. Warnings may appear when our system tries to guess the information that you meant to type in. They are designed to help you check that you have entered the correct information! For example, if you try to purchase a subscription for a teacher, our system will give you a warning, because all teachers are eligible for free Grok subscriptions.

⚠️Warnings do not need to be fixed before you finalise your invoice, but we will ask you to confirm that you have checked all the warnings before proceeding.
